Alex Arzú has been a driving force in the Houston art scene since 2012. Born in Augsburg, Germany and of Garifuna heritage, he studied architecture at the University of Houston and worked as an architect for four years before committing fully to public art.
Under the banner of Zú Art Collective, Alex has grown from a solo street muralist into a recognized civic-scale artist — collaborating with the City of Houston, BET, educational institutions, real estate developers, and cultural organizations. His work spans large-scale exterior murals, augmented reality experiences, tattoo art, and immersive installations.
Notable projects include the John Biggers Tribute mural, the Love Our Park civic commission unveiled with Mayor Sylvester Turner, and the BET Black Canvas exterior mural in EaDo, Houston.
